About US Dollar Index (DX)
The US Dollar Index began trading at the Financial Instruments
Exchange on November 20th, 1985. The Financial Instruments Exchange
was a division of the New York Cotton Exchange but is now part
of the New York Board of Trade. At its inception the US Dollar
Index was a weighed average of ten different currencies. Due to
the formation of the European Union and the adoption of the Euro
Currency the Index is currently weighted against six other currencies.
The current breakdown of the currencies and their trade weights
are as follows

These percentages are subject to change by the the exchange.
Other factors could also affect these weights such as the inclusion
of more countries into the European Union especially the United
Kingdom.
